It’s interesting to have a read through the Wikipedia entry for Wire Transfer as it shows up what the obvious methods of a wire transfer are although it does look like the wiki article has more than a little bit of spam in it, probably from interested people who want others to know about their own wire transfer methods or ways of using their product to transfer money online.
Here are the methods Wikipedia shows as Wire Transfer methods;
- Send Home Money (this is a comparison site which is odd to have listed under methods)
- FX Global Transfer
- Online Money Transfers (note that peerTransfer and Xoom are the only ones mentioned)
- Retail Money Transfers
- International (discusses mainly SWIFT)
- Anonymous Wire Transfers
- United States of America
A fair few of these are not methods of wire transfer, they’re actually competing options to the wire transfer system so it looks like the Wikipedia article has a long way to go before it fully represents the options that are available.
